FROM A LIFELONG CORPORATE TRAJECTORY TO LIVING A LIFE DOING WHAT SHE LOVES — Elizabeth, Senior Marketing Manager
Background:
Elizabeth was a senior marketing manager at a Blue Chip company, where she had spent the previous 20 years climbing the corporate ladder, being a massively successful and well respected high achiever. She knew that there was several big changes afoot with an organisational restructure looming, yet when she thought about the potential opportunities for growth and development in the company, she felt indifferent and almost fearful of what those changes would mean for her work and home life. Yet more time away/ regular travel abroad did not fit with the future that she wanted; and if the truth be told, she wasn’t even sure why she had spent so long in marketing, or how she had gotten to that point.
Ever the optimist, and grateful for her experiences she turned to me to receive coaching to reframe this feeling of ‘stuckness’ and explore what she really wanted from her life and future career.
Coaching Solution:
Due to the nature of Elizabeth’s goals and the pressing time constraints of potentially needing to apply for roles, she opted for a 3 x 2 hour sessions coaching block so that she could move forward quickly and decisively.
Goals:
Elizabeth focused her goals on exploration of what her next move could look like, inside her present organisation, and outside. She wanted to plan the conversations that she needed to have at work and increase her confidence in expressing what she wanted / needed for her next steps, and then take action.
Outcomes:
Elizabeth conducted her meetings with confidence, with a clear voice on her wishes and expectations and negotiated herself an exit from the company, opting for redundancy. Within her first week away from her corporate role she had already started a writers course and sent me her first book draft to read – which was an honour!
Elizabeth is now set on a future that is more aligned with her purpose and one that she believes she would not have explored had she not opted for coaching!
